It's gonna be a fun dynamic I think with Reggie and how he acts with the other characters. I hope that the feedback's great from that. Anything I can reveal about Reggie? I don't know, he's very competitive and tough, but he's got a good sense of humor. TV: Is there anything else you can reveal about Reggie in the upcoming season? What are you most excited about for?ĬM: Everything, to be honest. I would just love to play certain things that I'm not. I wasn't the smartest kid when it came to math class. And I would play Dilton because he's kind of a nerd and I could play a pretty good nerd, I think. I'd look like a Super Saiyan from Dragon Ball Z. I think it'd just be really cool if I had orange hair. TV: If you were to play any other character on Riverdale, which one would you want to play?ĬM: Either Dilton Doiley or Archie. I was very surprised I would probably do the same thing if I saw Ryan Reynolds.ĬM: I'm a huge Deadpool fan. But that was pretty crazy to me, she was shaking, she was vibrating the whole time next to me. Right there." And I was like what is wrong? What's going on? And she just wanted a picture. And she was on the phone, and she was like "He's right there. I'm very excited for that episode.ĬM: Yeah, I was sitting down on the ferry and I was with KJ and I woke up from a nap and I opened my eyes and there was this girl shaking uncontrollably. I'm pretty excited about everything that we've done so far, specifically I'd say episode four. And you'll see the dynamic and the friendship and the ally that Archie finds in Reggie when it comes to protecting Riverdale after reeling in the whole aftermath, his father being shot. There's going be a lot more interaction with the core characters, especially Archie. I’m truly sorry for making inconsiderate comments several years ago and apologize to anyone I hurt, Melton said. TV: What can we expect from Reggie this season?ĬM: Well, you can definitely expect to see a lot more Reggie. Melton, 27, apologized in a statement to E on Tuesday. A likable jock, a jerk, a prankster, whatever it is, it's pretty amazing. It's pretty amazing, playing a character that you have so many similarities with. I want to do all my stunts whenever we do any football games or anything like that. I was modeling for a while and they want you super skinny and tiny. Just being an athlete and playing football and training actually got me really going and more excited 'cause I was like, now I can work out. So how have you applied your training to the character?ĬM: It just felt very natural for me. TV: You grew up playing football, like Reggie. It's amazing, it's great, I'm honored to play this role and to put my own spin on this character and see how it goes. You're not just white or black or Asian or Latino. I've always seen myself as an all-American kid, you know. And to be honest, it's a very American thing. I think diversity and multiculturalism on TV and on the screen is such a powerful thing.
